Hillary Clinton records robocall for Josh Zeitz

Fourth District residents are getting calls from Hillary Clinton.

Clinton recorded a robocall for Democrat Josh Zeitz, who’s challenging U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-Hamilton) – the longest-serving incumbent in the state.

“Hi, this is Senator Hillary Clinton calling to ask you to vote for Josh Zeitz for Congress on Tuesday, November 4th,” she says in the call. “Josh Zeitz knows that your priorities are to repair this broken economy and ensure that all Americans receive quality, affordable health care, and these will be his priorities in Congress.”

The call doesn’t mention Smith by name, however, and could have been read for any number of candidates from a generic form.

Zeitz said that he talked about the idea with Clinton at a fundraiser in Tuxedo Park, New York last month. He said that she’s definitely doing a lot of robocalls, but he’s unsure if she’s recorded any for other New Jersey candidates.

“She said she certainly knew Chris Smith and would be more than happy to do a robocall,” he said.

Update: Clinton also recorded a robocall for 5th District Democratic candidate Dennis Shulman.
