Lance: the proof is on the ballot

Leonard Lance and Dick Zimmer in Kenilworth

KENILWORTH – Yesterday, Democratic State Chairman Joe Cryan challenged a room full of Linda Stender supporters to name a legislative accomplishment by Leonard Lance, and called the state Senator “as partisan as they come. Independent my ass!”

Responding to Cryan before his own, more low key rally tonight, Lance named a recent legislative accomplishment he said was also bipartisan: putting the “Lance Amendment” on Tuesday’s ballot.

“It couldn’t have gotten through the legislature without Democratic support,” he said. “It has been endorsed by Governor Corzine, and it’s one of my proudest accomplishments in the legislature. Number one it’s an accomplishment, and number two it’s a bipartisan accomplishment.”

The amendment, put simply, bans state borrowing without voter approval -- an echo of Lance’s 1990s crusade against former Republican Gov. Christie Whitman’s pension bonding.

Off the top of his head, Lance offered a couple other examples of accomplishments he’s particularly proud of.

“I’m the person responsible for the funding of domestic violence shelters in New Jersey, and I’ve been heavily involved in the budget process for more than a decade,” he said.

Umm, Mr. Cryan, please look at question one on the ballot

that you voted for. Lance led the effort to limit authority debt to the will of the voters. You voted for it numb nuts. That is at least one accomplishment don't you think?

You can visit Lance's website, I am sure you will find more of his accomplishments that you supported as well.

As a side note, I was talking to someone in SJ outside of Dist 7 and he was talking about the 3rd and 7th races. He still remembers that Linda Stender is a Spender - he does not even live in the District! No way she wins.

Will NJ-7 voters side with the 25% Bush/Cheney approvers?

With the vast majority of Lance’s support coming from the 25% of voters that still approve of Bush/Cheney and supporters of Mike Ferguson, a Tom Delay clone, can undecided NJ-7 voters expect Lance to be a “stay-the-course” Congressmen? Supported by ads of Freedom Watch, financed with carpetbagger money from Las Vegas and personal fund raising by Bush, how can Lance be trusted to be any different than Ferguson? America’s other deficit: Leadership can only be addressed with common senses governing, the remedy to Bush’s absurdities.

Integrity and, yes, Independence win in NJ-7

Watching the returns yesterday, I was pleased to see how this one turned out.

Apparently, enough people in NJ-7 were actually willing to consider character and accomplishments in casting their votes. A decent margin of victory too. This outcome not only says a great deal about the integrity of Mr. Lance, it speaks highly of the intelligence of the voters in his District.

Oh, by the way, this item about Joe Cryan pandering to voters ..... something about Mr. Lance not being independent. Who is that person anyway? Is he someone I’m supposed to recognize?
