New Jersey Republicans just happy to be on the floor
By Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com ReporterLike the Democrats last week, the New Jersey delegation at the Republican delegation is sitting in the back of the house – way off to the podium’s right, but close enough to get a profile view of the speakers.
New Jersey McCain State Coordinator Rick Mroz, however, said the issue comes up at every convention, and it doesn’t bother him.
“I love our seats,” he said. “It’s actually still a pretty intimate setting with the delegation on that floor, so I don’t have a problem with it.”
And what about having no speaker from New Jersey represented? That caused some consternation among Democrats in Denver.
“I take no offense to it. I don’t think any of us do. Unfortunately, we don’t have Republican statewide elected officials right now,” he said. “We’re trying to change that. That’s one of the things the convention looks to do: highlight people that are.”
