Greenstein would like Baroni's seat if he becomes U.S. Attorney
By Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com ReporterDENVER -- Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro) made the calculations and passed up a run for state Senate against Bill Baroni (R-Hamilton) in District 14 last year. But with all the buzz surrounding Baroni’s future if John McCain is elected president, there may be a short cut to the Senate for Greenstein.
Baroni, who’s leading the McCain campaign in New Jersey, would likely be a leading candidate for U.S. Attorney under the McCain Administration (providing current U.S. Attorney Chris Christie leaves the post). That would allow Greenstein, a popular incumbent, a legitimate shot at the higher chamber in a special election.
“I would like to move up to the Senate. Obviously if the people of my district would like me to,” she said.
But Greenstein doesn’t think that scenario will come about, especially not from her seat in the New Jersey delegation overlooking the Pepsi Center's floor.
“I know it’s just a guessing game, but we’re not going to come to that because Barack is going to win,” she said.
Still, Greenstein thinks Baroni would make a fine U.S. Attorney.
“He’s interested in a lot of the same issues that Chris Christie is interested in and that I’ve been interested in. I think he probably would be a good US Attorney,” she said. “But it will never happen.”

"(Dennis) Shulman, a blind rabbi and psychologist, acted as if articles about him and his candidacy in Time magazine and the New Yorker, as well as an endorsement from the mayor of New York City, made him a celebrity and a serious threat to incumbent Republican Rep. Scott Garrett. They didn’t. Most people in his district don’t read those magazines or care what Michael Bloomberg thinks. Garrett’s district strongly leans Republican, and Bush won it with 57 percent in 2004, running more than 11 points ahead of his statewide total. Credible Republican statewide candidates always carry the district even if they are getting pounded statewide. I think I just pissed myself from laughing so hard...

Is that why she ran for Senate?
Oh wait...she didn't. Maybe because she saw the poll that said the people of her district wanted Bill Baroni to move up to the Senate.
I thought they wanted her in the peoples house?
If i remember correctly when asked why she was not going to run for Senate, Ms. Greenstein said the people of her district OBVIOUSLY wanted her to stay in the "people's house" AKA Assembly -- and that they wanted Seema Singh to be in the State Senate.
Her judgement must have been a little less obvious on the latter because the people of her district didn't agree with her by 63-37 margin, as of November 6th.
Baroni for U.S. Attorney?
O my what a nightmare scenario that is, almost enough cause to vote for Obama.
