DENVER -- Essex County Executive Joe DiVencenzo may have said last week that he would consider running for Governor if Gov. Corzine left office early or decided not to seek reelection, but since arriving for the convention he’s been assured that won’t be the case.
“There’s no question Jon is going to be running for reelection. He’s been working this delegation very, very well. He assured me that he’s going to be our candidate whether Obama wins our not. He’s not interested in going to Washington,” said DiVincenzo.
DiVincenzo, of course, said that Corzine will have his support next year.
‘I really think we need Jon to run for reelection because we’re going through some tough times. I think he’s done a great job at this particular time and we need to continue the things that he’s doing,” he said.
DiVincenzo chose not to speculate about 2013.

Joe DiVincenzo Can't be serious! I was waiting to grassroots
campaign for him and with enthusiasm and alacrity: To match his own enthusaism and alacrity in regard to public service and getting the job done!! I was talking last night and for a very long time with a Prominent Newspaper editor located somewhere in Essex County. And he fully and completely shared "my take" on Joe DiVincenzo as "a leader and a gifted can-do-now and a very effective communicator..." And "thE editor" has many years of experience and bi-lines covering politicians and public servants. He told me that "You have a real knack for political analysis and can offer rare insight into situations and people." (Eyes rolling to the sky!) This was not just a conversation for me: It was a vindication ceremony! (:
I admit it it! I will humbly take a complement from good people whenever I can get it! -And then I like to run and not walk with it! Let's just say for now that: Governor Rendell and Governor BRIAN Schweitzer have more than a few things in common with Joe DiVincenzo. What Mayor Ed Koch was and still is to NYC...Joe D could be that kind of governor and statewide presence here in NJ. Of that I have no doubt.
I predict that: Joe DiVincenzo and Ed Rendell would hit it off big time and would be formidable allies! And is there out there a videotape of Joe DiVencenzo unveiling the county courthouse and speeches about his tencity and accomplishments.
The Joe DiVincenzo running for Governor in NJ story is not over yet! And I say that in my infinite wisdom and with my tongue firmly planted in cheek ...(:
Go Jon Go!!!
For a while there I was worried he wasn't man enough to run.
