Chris Smith reunites family separated by Russian/Georgian conflict

The Associated Press reports that U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-Hamilton) has succeeded in securing the passage of two Monmouth County children from a war zone in the Republic of Georgia to the U.S. Embassy in the capital.

Ashley and Sophia Evans, ages seven and three, had been trapped at their grandparents’ farm after Russian troops invaded parts of the nation two weeks ago.

Smith flew to Georgia earlier this week to coordinate their return. He enlisted French Ambassador Eric Fournier to pick them up and escort them on the six hour journey back to Tbilisi.

"We're all on clouds over here,” Smith told the wire service.

The girls, who were reunited with their father at the embassy, expect to return to New Jersey within a few days.

True Hero

The people of Hamilton are proud of Congressman Chris Smith.Congressman Smith is a true American Hero.

Well Done

Too bad Zeitz would never ever be able to do this in his wildest dreams!

Well Done Sir

The picture is missing a red cape and a big "S" on the chest

Someone stick a fork in Josh, he's done.

Smith

Zeitz never had a chance, even before this. I am one of many Democrats in Ocean County who vote for Chris Smith each and every time because he represents us well. The main knock on Smith is that he doesn't live in NJ. This is countered by the fact that every time I write to him (which isn't that often), he actually calls (not a staff member). He follwos up on what we discussed, and I often receive a letter finalizing it. He represents the district well. I met Josh Zeitz. Good guy (and a smart guy), but he definitely picked the wrong battle. All of the republicans and most of the democrats love Smith.

A true defender of children

The entire state of New Jersey should be extremely proud of Congressman Chris Smith. These two little girls are safe and alive today because of his persistence and compassion. He exemplifies what it means to be truly pro-life!

AMEN

To quote winners and losers this week

"put a fork in Zeitz, he is done"

Too bad this guy had to open his mouth and bad mouth Smith from the get go, but politically he is done.

Nasty PR Campaign

Congressman Chris Smith went there for his PR campaign. I doubt that he cares about war victims. Those girls were safe even without his "help". Nice exposure Chris! Good job!

OMG BOOO HOOO HOO

Keep sniveling and crying there zeitz supporter. All you dems are so full of arrogance and sour grapes it reeks!

Zeitz is a punk and people have heard and seen it. Too bad you and zeitzy cannot get the clue.

Smith has the experience and clout and respect. I am glad Zeitz will have you.

Hey

I suggested Forking Josh before Winners and Losers did.

What's really beautiful about this is that Smith trumped Zeitz's poorly editted YouTube piece in which he was going to reveal to the 4th district that...Get this... Chris Smith is... against abortion. Wow. Talk about an august suprise.

Good Job
