DOJ report finds wrongdoing under Gonzales

On the national news front, an internal Justice Department report concluded that politics illegally influenced the hiring of immigration judges and career prosecutors while Alberto Gonzales was Attorney General.

The report pointed much of the blame at Gonzales, although it blamed the specific wrongdoing on aides Monica Goodling, the former White House liaison, and former Gonzales chief of staff  Kyle Sampson.

An Associated Press article quotes Attorney General Michael Mukasey as saying he was  “of course disturbed" by the report’s findings.

Why is this news? Clearly, the DOJ would never let politics influence their hiring, choose the targets of investigations, or leak information to the press. However, on a lighter note, the two numbers that should never be erased from our collective memories: $52 million and $482 billion. If you have to ask, you don't get it. Case closed.

Maybe the Justice Department can investigate to see if politics illegally influenced the hiring of Democrats at the DRPA and in Camden County's Government.
