Democrat John Adler’s congressional campaign says that groups that used to support outgoing Rep. Jim Saxton (R-Mount Holly) are falling in line behind Adler as opposed Saxton’s heir apparent, Republican Chris Myers.
The latest group to jump to Adler, according to a press release issued by Adler’s campaign today, is The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Joint Council #73. Adler’s campaign also has the endorsement of three other groups that used to back Saxton: The Fraternal Order of Police, Sierra Club, and the Recreational Fishing Alliance.
“John Adler has been an advocate for middle class families and workers rights. Unlike his Republican opponent Mayor Chris Myers who believes that the 'economy is basically strong,' John Adler understands that people all across the country are struggling to make ends meet, and looking for change in Washington," Chris Nolan, the Teamsters #73 PAC Chairman.
Myers Campaign Manager Chris Russell offered the following response:
"John Adler is a career politician who has been part of the problem in Trenton for 16 years, making this state unaffordable for suburban families and seniors on a fixed income while being a rubber stamp for Jim McGreevey and Jon Corzine. On Election Day, the voters in CD3 will pass judgement on that failed record, and their vote is the only endorsement that truly matters."

“She has already chosen the interests of the insurance industry over the health care needs of working people, she took millions from Wall Street as the economy went into a meltdown, and now she wants to purchase a job in Congress at a time when so many have lost their jobs because of the actions of big bankers and others." -- Monmouth County Democrats spokesman Mike Mangan, on Republican Diane Gooch, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone.
