State Sen. Kevin O’Toole’s chief-of-staff, Dominick Fiorilli, is leaving that position to become John McCain’s Deputy Northeast Regional Campaign Manager.

Fiorilli, 27, will be working directly under Bill Stepien, the current regional campaign manager who worked as former presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani’s national field director and ran state Sen. Bill Baroni’s campaign for Assembly in 2003.

Fiorilli starts next week.  He will help coordinate the campaign in New York and New Jersey.

“I’m honestly humbled and just kind of floored by it,” he said, adding that O’Toole encouraged him to take the position. “I am unbelievably fortunate to work for someone who wouldn’t just give a tacit approval, but is actually thoroughly and enthusiastically supportive of the decision.”

Baroni is McCain’s State Chairman.  O’Toole was also an early McCain backer and plays a prominent role in the state campaign as well.

Good Luck Dom

Congratulations to Dominick.

Dominick took over as the the McCain surrogate for Assemblyman David Russo, who arrived late and left early, at the Conservatives with Attitude! Presidential Candidates Forum in January, attended by over 250 people.

Senator O'Toole's loss is McCain's gain....

Its a great choice.  McCain is lucky -- in Stepien and Dominick he has the two best operatives the Republicans have to offer in NJ. Dominick is smart, hard working, loyal and a genuinely decent person -he definately deserves it Stepien has proven himself time and again, and the two of them should help to pump some life into this campaign.  Kudos to Baroni and Otoole - Nice to see the new Senators allowing their protege's to shine!

PS - This would be a great team to run the '09 campaign for the next Republican Gubenatorial candidate, Chris Christie.

Great move!!

All the best to Dominick.  He truly is one of the best and his agreement to help secure victory for McCain (which WILL happen in November) will strap a rocket to his career.

Good luck, brother.

O'Toole always breeds good staff

Suppose if O'Toole's staffing recommendations were dismissed stateside, then it is a good consolation prize to get some national recognition. Why wouldn't he enthusiastically support this move?

Congrats Dom

This guy has had rising star written all over him since the first day he stepped on the scene.

Who, what, where?

"Fiorilli, 27, will be working directly under Bill Stepien, the current regional campaign manager who worked as former presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani’s national field director ..." Did you say Giuliani's national field director? Run for the door, run!
