Just in case you forgot that Rob Andrews was an early supporter of the Iraq War, incumbent Sen. Frank Lautenberg’s campaign set up a Web site to remind you about it.
The Web site prominently features a new take of President Bush’s 2004 reelection campaign logo, replacing Vice President Dick Cheney’s name with Andrews. Next to it is are the images of Bush and Andrews side by side.
The site also features the now famous picture of Rob Andrews attending the Iraq War resolution signing in October, 2002, and a month’s worth of press releases hitting Andrews on Iraq.
Lautenberg supported the war during his 2002 campaign against Republican Doug Forester, but about six after reentering the Senate after a two year hiatus, he became a vocal critic of Bush’s war policy. Andrews became a critic of the Bush administration’s Iraq policies two years later.
"The record is very clear: Rob Andrews helped write, promote and enable George Bush's war. This website allows voters to see for themselves that Rob Andrews has been a consistent rubber stamp for the Bush Administration," said Lautenberg spokeswoman Julie Roginsky.
Andrews responded that Lautenberg was "hiding behind Web sites" rather than talking about his own record on Iraq.

If he has time to set up Web sites...
...then Lautenberg has time to debate. Come on Frank. Wipe off the formaldehyde and get in the game. Unless they are up on stage with you, no one will even notice if you poop your pants.
Disgusted
I am disgusted at Frank Lautenberg for going so low in this campaign. I thought you were better then this Senator.
Frank's campaign is in shambles!
What kind of campaign is this? Why not kick the guy (Andrews) in the balls? It could be easier. Yes?
cobb webs, maybe
the good senator has little to do with his website. He still hasn't figured out how to make a phone call without an operator at the other end to take is extension number.
Nice site!
Sounds like the Andrews people don't like it.
Dana Redd.
Congressman Rob Andrews is very smart. He is also serious about his role as a public official. However, when the primary is done, there will be a doo-doo load of 'splainin' to do by the Andrews people. Dana should be the congresswoman.
Again Accountability
Listen, the job of a good politician is to work for his constituents. In 2004 the country and his constituents of the 1st congressional district were worried about weapons of mass destruction. How can we get mad at Rob for acting on those concerns. And now in 2008 he is working to bring the troops home!
larry
Frank the Hypocrite
Funny that Senator Lautenberg actually supported the War in Iraq back in 2003, maybe in his old age he forgot his previous position. Senator, you should know better!
Facts Are Facts
Wait a minute...
...I thought the debate problem was Lautenberg's busy schedule. I took him at his word that it was just a question of "getting the schedulers together." Now we see this morning that he turned down FDU's neutral invitation to debate on ANY day open on Lautenberg's schedule???
What is he so afraid of?
His cowardice is tantamount to a forfeit. We cannot elect someone who is mentally and physically unwilling or unable to debate. That's the job of being a senator, for crying out loud. The greatest debate society in the world??
Good
This is wonderful. THe Norcross press machine and endless money are constantly playing catch up. Andrews made this mess and now FL is making him clean it up. If Andrews wants to be gov in 09 he did a wonderful job of getting everyone in the party mad, and now it will be tough to sell his pro-GOP agenda in either this race or in 09. Andrews lost bigtime here. Andrews made this dirty from the begining and he is getting beaten at his own game. Perhaps Norcross can get him elected to the Freeholder Board
As usual you don't get it, Blue
Rob is not running for any future contest. He is running to win. He knows he has rattled the state's politburo, and this is it.
No
Trust me. Rob has seen the poll numbers. He has always hated Washington. Rob wants to be Governor and to do that he needed to build name recognition and a stae-wide network. He knows his named ID and support in the north is in the tank. He prob expected to be better received in the South of the state, and that might be discouraging to him. Nevertheless if he wanted it, he would have jumped in much sooner. This is a press blitz for an 09 run.
It's The Andrews Campaign That's a "Shambles"
I would love to see Lautenberg really take the goves off and demand that Andrews answer the following questions.

The fact is that the whole Andrews candidacy is founded on a dirty/ugly/sleazy premise that will disgust any NJ voter who knows about it and understands the underlying dynamic.
