Atlantic Dems to back Andrews
By Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com ReporterAtlantic County Democrats will switch their allegiance from Frank Lautenberg to Rob Andrews today and award him the organization line, according to Democratic sources.
The move does not come as a surprise, since Andrews was expected to roll up virtually all south Jersey from virtually the moment he entered the U.S. Senate primary.
But the Atlantic County Democrats had endorsed Lautenberg just days before Andrews decided to run, and Democratic Chairman Ron Ruff stood beside the senior Senator at his campaign kickoff (at the time to show unity against a potential primary challenge from former Democratic State Chairman Tom Byrne).
