Two freshman legislators from Hudson County endorsed Rob Andrews for U.S. Senate today, bucking Hudson County Democratic Chairman/Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy’s decision to back Lautenberg.
State Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham and Assemblyman Anthony Chiappone, who both ran on the HCDO line in the June legislative primaries against Union City Mayor Brian Stack’s rival slate, threw their allegiance behind Andrews today.
Cunningham felt strongly enough about the endorsement to quote a passage from the Bible.
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose. I
believe that the time has come for change. Congressman Andrews represents the change we need in Washington," she said.
