For Immediate Release: Thursday, May 29, 2009 LAVALLETTE, NJ – Mayor Steve Lonegan, the conservative Republican candidate for Governor, received the endorsement from Lavallette Mayor Walter LaCicero, Jr. At a press conference today, Mayor LaCicero said he was proud to endorse Mayor Steve Lonegan, adding that he is the only hope for New Jersey. “Steve Lonegan is the only true Conservative Republican in the race for Governor,” LaCicero said. “He has a plan to relieve the New Jersey taxpayers of the huge financial burden that Jon Corzine has left us with and make the state an economic powerhouse once again.” Mayor Lonegan and Mayor LaCicero also discussed the impact that COAH has had on the Lavallette community and Ocean County. “Corzine’s COAH plan will result in the elimination of our hometowns and our way of living,” LaCicero said. “Corzine is trying to micromanage and COAH is a perfect example of the dangers of government planning.”“Corzine’s plan will turn our hometowns into urban centers and transit hubs,” Lonegan said. “Local housing decisions must be made by the free market, not Trenton bureaucrats. Once elected Governor I will eliminate COAH. Chris Christie has said he will ‘gut’ COAH, not kill it. One more reason on the growing list of why Christie is just more of the same.”
