Ocean City, NJ – Conservative Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Steve Lonegan picked up endorsements from a majority of Ocean City Council members today.
The endorsement by Council members Keith Hartzell, John Kemenosh, Karen Bergman and Roy Wagner highlights the growing momentum the Lonegan campaign is gaining.
"Less government plus less taxes equals Steve Lonegan,” Kemenosh said, speaking for the group. “The message he sends out is the strongest Republican message. This is not about partisan politics, it is about the people. Everyone should check their wallets, and then they will vote for Steve Lonegan. We need fairness and a reduction in taxes. Steve Lonegan represents that.”
“I am honored to gain this endorsement today,” Lonegan said. “It’s encouraging and motivating as we enter this final stretch to have the support from local leaders unafraid to stand up to the stale political machine and put taxpayers first. We have an immense and effective grassroots campaign in Ocean City and in Cape May County. Together we will take back our state and make it a destination for families and business once more."
“This endorsement is another statement by the people of New Jersey that we are ready for a change. New Jersey can’t keep doing more of the same and expect a different result. Just like Jon Corzine, Chris Christie is more of the same and the people of Ocean City know that. Someone has to stand up to Governor Corzine and his cronies. I've done it before and I'll do it again."
