INDEPENDENT POLL DECLARES STENDER RACE STATISTICAL DEADHEAT
Scotch Plains, NJ -- An independent poll today declared that the race in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District between Democratic Challenger Linda Stender and Rep. Mike Ferguson is a statistical dead-heat.
The poll was conducted by RT Strategies and Constituent Dynamics, which is run by Republican Lance Tarrance and Democrat Thomas Reihle. The poll showed that Mike Ferguson leads Linda Stender by just three points -- 49% to 46%. Tarrance's old firm -- Tarrance and Associates -- has polled for many New Jersey GOP candidates over the last 25 years."This independent poll confirms everything we see and hear on the street when we walk door to door," said Linda Stender for Congress campaign manager Ed Oatman. "Voters are fed up with Mike Ferguson and will vote him out of office on November 7. Mike Ferguson is out of touch with voters and is in fact too extreme on issues like Iraq, stem cell research, choice, Social Security and health care. Voters want common sense change and Linda Stender represents that common sense change."
The automated survey of 1,000 likely voters had President George W. Bush at an upside-down 40%-50% approval rating in the Seventh Congressional District.
