STENDER APPLAUDS VOLUNTEERS ON DNC DEMOCRATIC REUNION
DNC Finance Chair Philip Murphy and Gov. Jon Corzine Attend Rally(SCOTCH PLAINS) -- New Jersey 7th Democratic Congressional candidate Linda Stender today applauded volunteers and local community activists for taking part in the Democratic National Committee's nationwide "Democratic Reunion."
"Democrats are poised to retake Congress and we have volunteers and community activists to thank," said Stender. "Democrats across the nation are taking to the streets today to deliver their message of common-sense change. Today's voter contact and outreach events will continue day-in and day-out until election day. President Bush and his rubber-stamp Congress should be worried."
July 29th marks 100 days until Election Day and on this day, Democrats around America gathered at more than 800 locations to kick off a national effort to mobilize and engage voters and ensure Democratic victories up and down the ballot on Election Day. The "Democratic Reunion" is the latest in a series of volunteer recruitment and voter contact events the DNC has sponsored across the country.
DNC Finance Chair Philip D. Murphy was in Scotch Plains to help volunteers canvass, stuff envelopes, and work the phones on behalf of Democrats running for Congress.
"Democrats are unified and ready to take our country back," said Murphy. "It's wonderful to see so many volunteers take part in a campaign that is so vital to our country's future. We only need 15 seats to win Congress back from Republicans. And the 7th District seat is very much in play."
"Mike Ferguson is wrong on the war in Iraq, wrong for trying to take away a woman's right to choose, wrong for taking money from Big oil while motorists struggle at the pump, and wrong for trying to privatize Social Security and Medicare," said Stender. "Bush Republicans have mismanaged our country for far too long. The time for common-sense change has arrived."
Gov. Jon S. Corzine also attended the Democratic Reunion.
