LD9th GOP Candidates go to their kitty, while Democrats raise true public funds.
The state amndated ELEC financial reports published last week show that the Republican incumbent and his new running mate have raised about three times as much in campaign funds as their Democratic challengers for the 9th District Assembly Richard Visotcky and Robert Rue.
Although “raised” might not be the correct word for the GOP, as the report shows the majority of their reported nearly $90,000 came from one source, the Republican war chest stockpiled from previous elections.
Meanwhile, Visotcky and Rue’s funds have mainly come from individual donations, along with a $3000 donation from the New Jersey Education Association, which gave an equal amount to the Republicans.
Many of Visotcky and Rue’s donations have come in via their Web site www.visotckyrueassembly.com, where in addition to donating, people can volunteer to join the campaign and read up on the issues the pair are ready to tackle when they get to Trenton .
“With their access to the GOP money machine, we knew going in to the election our opponents would win the dollar race. But our priority is to win the real race, the one to represent the people, all the people, of the 9th District,” the pair said. “They may lead us in dollars 3 to 1, but I’m sure we lead them in doors knocked on and voters met by 10,000 to 1. And when it comes to finding out the concerns of the voters and letting them know we are sincere about the need for change. And that takes door knocks to dollars any day of the week.”
And any day of the week, or rather evening, that’s what you’ll find Visotcky and Rue doing, knocking on doors from Hammonton to Manchester and all points in between in the 9th District.
Some evenings volunteers accompany the candidates, so they can split up to cover more neighborhoods, while other volunteers man the phones at the new headquarters at 817 Route 9 (Main St.) in Manahawkin.
