Although 9th District Democratic candidates Richard Visotcky and Robert Rue are not office holders, nor do they hold politically appointed positions like their opponents, they are not novices to the workings of State and local government. Visotcky served as the Little Egg Harbor Township attorney and served his hometown community as Chairman of the Stafford Township Planning Board and member of the Stafford Business Park Commission. Rue’s government experience includes serving as the Dock and Wharves attorney for Long Beach Township, as well as handling other municipal matters for various municipalities. In addition, Visotcky served as a Legislative Aide to his father, the late Richard F. Visotcky, a Bergen County Democrat who served in the NJ Assembly from 1974 to 1986. Previously, he was with the Bergen County (NJ) Prosecutor’s Office assigned to work directly with the US Drug Enforcement Agency. “As practicing attorneys, we have both served as municipal prosecutors and appear regularly before many municipal planning, zoning and land use boards, as well as various State agencies in Trenton,” they added. “In light of the public perception of distrust with our current State government, especially how it affected the 9th Legislative District, we know that the voters are now ready for a change in their elected representatives. The Visotcky & Rue Assembly team will provide that change to the citizens of the 9th District with no strings attached,” said the candidates. The candidates’ hands-on, real-life experiences have carried over into their campaign and will give them the ability to deal with the many issues facing the people of the 9th District when they are elected into office, they added. “We have not been distracted by the recent corruption scandal of Daniel Van Pelt that has put our GOP opponents’ campaign in disarray. We have been meeting the voters by hitting the doors and attending picnics, carnivals, feasts, dinners, civic events and an occasional pancake breakfast,” Visotcky and Rue maintain their goals are to stay focused on the concerns of the citizens and to bring effective leadership and honest representation to Trenton as members of the NJ State Assembly.

"I think he could be more civil. This is not necessary. I wish him a lot of luck. I have seen enough to know that this is the toughest job in America. I would never, ever wish this job on my worst enemy." -- Joshua Zeitz, a spokesman for former Gov. Jon Corzine, on Gov. Chris Christie.
