LAUTENBERG COMMENTS ON AMTRAK REACHING AGREMENT WITH LABOR UNION LEADERS
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today issued the following statement after Amtrak and its union leaders reached a tentative agreement:
“This is a good day for Amtrak passengers — and the loyal men and women who make it run. With long lines at the airport and soaring gas prices, Amtrak’s record ridership this year shows how important passenger rail is for travelers in New Jersey and across the country. With this agreement in place, we can now focus on strengthening our nation’s passenger rail. I am hopeful the House follows the Senate’s lead and acts to pass my bill to do just that.”
