Stender Should Make Public Her 2006 Response to Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards

- Release of Testimony Should Set Record Straight -

Green Brook, NJ - Assemblywoman Linda Stender should release her response to an ethics complaint filed with the Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards on June 30, 2006. The complaint dealt specifically with a grant for Union County for $25,000 for “development of Union County library connection.”

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Stender’s office had solicited the grant in question. Stender worked for the Union County operated Runnels Hospital at the time for a salary of more than $50,000 according to her 2004 Legislator’s Financial Disclosure Statement. The Ethics complaint was dismissed.

“With the conflicting statements Linda Stender has made in the last several days regarding this grant program, releasing her response to the ethics complaint would help clarify her memory as to her role in soliciting these grants,” said Lance Campaign Manager Amanda Woloshen.

“Linda Stender should be more than willing to share with taxpayers the information that lead to the dismissal of this complaint,” Woloshen concluded.
