Kean will pick Harkness

Thomas Kean, Jr., who officially becomes the Senate Minority Leader on Tuesday, is expected to name James Harkness as the Executive Director of the Senate Republican Office.  Harkness served as Chief Counsel to Governor Donald DiFrancesco and was a top staffer in the State Senate (when the GOP had a majority of seats) before joining Riker Danzig, a politically powerful law firm.

Harkness replaces John Samerjan, who had held the post under John Bennett and Leonard Lance.  Kean chose not to retain Samerjan, who is expected to remain as a senior advisor until he becomes fully vested in the state public employee pension system.

Such generosity at taxpayer expense

"Samerjan is expected to remain as a senior advisor until he becomes fully vested in the state public employee pension system."

Heaven forbid anyone attempt to pull the tick off the dog until it has completely engorged itself.

John "Do Nothing" Samerjan

This is the exact practice Republicans have been pointing at Democrats for doing for so many years.  Way to diminish any efforts which have been made to point out the flaws in the system.  Samerjan hasn't done anything worthwhile during his tenure as E.D. what the heck will he do as a "Senior Advisor"?  Is it possible to play even more golf and smoke even more cigars???  Way to go Senate Reps.

aldomanuzio=hilarious

that has got to be the quote of the week!!!!!!

Harkness=Samerjan

Different face, same liberal ideology, as the quote of the week illustrates.

It appears that Senate Republicans will continue to be a laughable gang of buffoons unwilling and unable to throw any roadblocks to the Governor's Marxist agenda.  With Kean, as with Lance, being nice is more important than winning.  This is a bad trait that seeme to particularly affect those who can trace their pedigree back to Colonial times.  Democrats find it particularly amusing.
