Mount Holly, July 9, 2009 – By tapping longtime Trenton insiders Herb Conaway and Jack Conners as captains of their “Straight A’s for Change” Team (Source: Dem Press Release on 7/8 http://www.politickernj.com/bcdc/31244/clockwork-corrupt-burlco-gop-unveils-operation-lie-voters-2009), Burlington County Democrats have all but conceded that the “change” they want means bringing the disastrous policies of Jon Corzine and Jim McGreevey to Burlington County – a revelation that should give every property taxpayer in Burlington County the chills.
Who says Corzine and McGreevey’s policies have been disastrous you ask? Well, 8th District Democrat Assembly candidate Bill Brown, for one.
“Before blind political ambition got the best of him, Bill Brown had tax-hiking Trenton Democrats like Herb Conaway and Jack Conners, and their loyal supporters like Rick Perr, Kim Kersey and Jim Bernard, pegged exactly right,” said Chris Russell, Burlington County GOP spokesman. “Brown skewered McGreevey over higher property taxes; blasted Corzine over increasing budget deficits and driving jobs out of state; and finally called on voters to hold Democrats in Trenton accountable for running the state into the ground.”
“We couldn’t agree more,” added Russell. “Brown’s accurate description of Corzine, McGreevey, Conaway and Conners makes his decision to run with them all the more bizarre and hypocritical, while at the same time rendering the County Democrats “Straight A’s” plan a total sham that’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.”
In excerpts from a letter-to-the-editor that appeared in the Courier Post on October 28, 2007, 8th District Democrat Assembly candidate Bill Brown wrote the following:
“During former Democratic Gov. James E. McGreevey's term in office, New Jersey was the number one state in tax increases and he further increased the debt by billions. Now, Gov. Jon Corzine has almost an identical budget deficit, while New Jersey remains the number one state for increased taxes imposed on its residents.”
“Taxes in this state have gone beyond ludicrous.” “…our high property taxes are the primary reason for many New Jersey residents leaving the state. New Jersey's infamous tax rates are deterring future migration to the state; decreasing commerce, while increasing the mass withdrawal to states with fewer fiscal penalties.”
“If you're disgusted with the highest property taxes in the nation and the greatest increase in taxes in history, you have a chance to take retribution in the upcoming elections. Hold responsible the Democratic Party and those who are running this state into the ground. Hold them accountable at the ballot.”
“Bill Brown has a history of his words coming back to bite him,” said Russell, citing citizen Brown’s praising of Assemblyman Scott Rudder’s record on veterans’ issues via private Facebook messages, and then candidate Brown hypocritically criticizing Rudder’s veterans record in a public press release a short time later.
“In this case, Brown’s pointed criticism of Corzine and Trenton Democrats like Conaway and Conners underscores our belief that the only ‘change’ Burlington County Democrats are capable of is the wrong kind of change for Burlington County property taxpayers.”
