NJ Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs
Endorse Chris Myers for Congress
Burlington, Camden & Ocean County Chapters Back NRA Endorsed Candidate
Mount Holly, October 28, 2008-The New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs of Burlington, Camden and Ocean counties have endorsed job-creating businessman and decorated combat veteran Chris Myers for his strong support of the 2nd Amendment and the rights of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen.
"I am honored to have the support of hunters and sportsmen across the district - they are an important constituency, and one I will never take for granted," said Myers, who was endorsed by the National Rifle Association earlier this week, while his opponent, John Adler, received an "F". "As a Congressman, I will oppose any efforts by the government to legislate away the rights of law-abiding citizens to hunt or own a gun. Instead, my focus will be on getting illegal guns out of the hands of criminals, cracking down on violent gangs and keeping our neighborhoods and our schools safe."
Myers chastised his opponent, career Trenton politician John Adler, for sponsoring legislation to ban the black bear hunt and legislation to prohibit law-abiding citizens from owning handguns. In the 1998-99 legislative session, Adler was the Prime sponsor of S-514, which would have statutorily banned the hunting of black bears and overturned the judgment of the Fish and Game Council, which has the authority, subject to the oversight of the DEP Commissioner, to establish a black bear season. In the 1996-97 legislative session, Adler was the Prime sponsor of S-351, which would have restricted the sale, importation, possession and carrying of handguns except by certain "authorized persons" like law enforcement or members of the military, or those who could prove a "justifiable need."
"John Adler's 16-year career in Trenton is marked by a clear bias against hunting and against the 2nd Amendment," said Myers. "Hunters should not be fooled by his election-year pandering, and should instead look at his long record of voting against their issues in Trenton prior to becoming a candidate for Congress. Make no mistake, if John Adler wins on November 4th, he will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi in Washington, just like he was a rubber stamp for Jon Corzine and Jim McGreevey in Trenton."

Lt. Gov. Guadagno takes on red tape in N.J. Gov. Christie Whitman declared New Jersey "open for business" in 1994 and appointed an ombudsman to lead entrepreneurs through "the expanding maze of regulation." "Never forget, some of those shouting the loudest are the architects of the disaster we are now suffering. Do we really want another decade of economic failure? No, this spring it is time to clear away the underbrush to make room for growth. So, today, we stop sweeping problems under the rug. We will not hide our problems until
another day. And we are certainly not increasing the tax burden we place upon our people. Today, we are taking necessary and decisive action to reduce state spending and reform state government. The problems we have hidden for twenty years are evident for all to see. The day of reckoning has arrived. Some are saying, by their choice of policies, that we should descend further into debt and deficit, and risk driving more people out of the state with “temporary” tax increases that always turn out to be permanent. I say we must face up to our responsibility." -- Gov. Christopher Christie
