Adler Should Cancel Codey Robo-Call If
Senate President Refuses to Take Lie Detector Test
Myers proposes Adler take a lie detector test of his own regarding slush fund connections to his law firm and campaign contributors
Mount Holly, October 23, 2008-If Senate President Dick Codey refuses to submit to a lie detector test about "threatening and tempting" Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce with Trenton slush fund money, in an effort to keep him from pressing for details on how the funds were doled out, then career Trenton politician John Adler should cancel plans to have Codey do robo-calls on his behalf, charged job-creating businessman and decorated combat veteran Chris Myers (NJ-3).
Earlier this week the Star-Ledger offered both Codey and DeCroce an opportunity to submit to a lie detector test. DeCroce accepted, while Codey has not. Later in the week, http://www.politickernj.com/ reported that Adler solicited Codey to make calls on his behalf to senior citizens in the 3rd Congressional District.

"If Senate President Codey doesn't submit to this lie detector test, then John Adler should cancel plans for Codey's robo-call," said Myers. "Frankly, it's stunning that John Adler would even solicit Dick Codey's help in the midst of the Trenton slush fund scandal both are embroiled in. It confirms everything I've been saying about John Adler - he is a consummate Trenton insider who has helped create the mess in this State, and that makes him completely incapable of fixing the mess in Washington."
Myers also reiterated his own recent challenges to Adler on his involvement in the slush fund scandal and called on his opponent to take a lie detector test of his own.
"John Adler has consistently played the Trenton equivalent of ‘hide and go seek' called ‘lie and go hide,' said Myers. "More than $6 million in taxpayer money was improperly directed to towns and entities in John Adler's legislative district. How much of that money went to places and pet projects where Adler's law firm had a financial interest? And, in addition to Marc Silver, how many tax dollars did Adler direct to wealthy campaign contributors?
"Taxpayers in the 3rd Congressional District deserve the truth. That's why today I am officially challenging John Adler to submit to a lie detector of his own, sponsored by the Star-Ledger or any major newspaper serving the district" said Myers. "If he has nothing to hide, he'll accept my challenge. I look forward to his response."
