The Honorable John Adler
John Adler for Congress
P.O. Box 1024
Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054
VIA FAX: 856 222-0875
Dear Senator Adler:
I read with dismay your evasive response to my press conference yesterday blasting the costly, new affordable housing mandates you and the other Trenton politicians have voted to cram down the throats of suburban property taxpayers with your ill-advised legislation.
Reading your non-response, it became clear why you didn't even have the courage to show up yesterday and defend your vote-and that's because you can't defend it. Just like you can't defend voting to increase taxes 43 times since 2002, killing our state's economy and making it unaffordable to live, work or retire here. Instead, you'd rather run and hide, and hold highly orchestrated town hall meetings where you never face tough questions about your failed record in Trenton. Voters deserve better.
That's why today, via this letter, I am officially challenging you to a 1-hour debate at the Mount Laurel Township complex solely on the topic of this new affordable housing legislation-just you and me on a stage together to debate this legislation and its impact on the 3rd Congressional District.
My position is clear: I believe in providing affordable housing, and have done so in Medford. However, the legislation signed by Governor Corzine yesterday is nothing more than a multi-billion dollar unfunded mandate from Trenton that will result in massive property tax increases on suburban homeowners, pave-over previously preserved open space, and further damage our already struggling economy.
What is your position, John? The people of this district deserve to know where you stand on this extremely important issue that will have a long-term impact on this State's future.
Please have someone from you staff contact my Campaign Manager, Chris Russell, at 609 267-1850. We should debate this issue right now. No delay. The voters in this district deserve to hear where you stand.
Sincerely,
Chris Myers
Candidate for Congress
PS In regard to your characterization of me as "a career local politician," in the press today, let's get serious. Lest you forget, John, while you were already well into your 20-year career as an overly ambitious, tax-raising, member of the corrupt Trenton and Camden political machines, I was standing guard aboard a Navy ship in the Persian Gulf fighting for our country's freedom. The only career politician in this race is you.
