ASSEMBLY CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Annual Celebration Commemorates Significant Contributions of Groups, Individuals

(TRENTON) - Assembly Democrats today issued a multimedia package commemorating the chamber's annual celebration of Black History Month - a time to reflect and remember the individuals and groups that have contributed to the betterment or advancement of African Americans in the state and the nation.

This year's celebration honored the following groups and individuals:

  • James Harris, New Jersey chapter president, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP);
  • Captain Don Wactor, vice president, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE);
  • Jacquelyn Threadgill, Mercer County chapter president, Jack & Jill of America, Inc.;
  • Jerleni Worthy, Mercer County chapter president, National Congress of Black Women, Inc.;
  • Homer O. Justice, 33° Grand Master, The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in the State of New Jersey; and
  • Reverend Stephanie R. Minatee, director, Jubilation Choir.

The multimedia package consists of a video highlighting portions of the ceremony, audio of same, and a Facebook photo album of the event.
