Corzine’s panel also recommended a moratorium on illegal immigration raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and called for instructing public school systems that their officials are not legally permitted to seek Social Security numbers from parents of potential students.
Addiego called the recommendations “mind-boggling” and “offensive” to New Jersey’s law-abiding citizens and property taxpayers.
“Allowing illegal immigrants to qualify for in-state college tuition and valid drivers licenses is, quite frankly, unconscionable,” said Addiego. “When his very own panel comes back with ridiculous recommendations like these, it’s easy to see why New Jerseyans have lost faith in Governor Corzine and his failed policies.”
Rudder challenged Brown to reconcile recent statements he made on an online message board defending his decision to run with Corzine and the Trenton Democrats – in which he claimed they “best represents the interest [sic] of all the families living in New Jersey” – with the radical recommendations made by Corzine’s very own immigration panel.
