Mount Holly, February 17, 2009 – Burlington County Democrats proved how out-of-touch they are with county residents this past weekend by holding a breakfast rally for embattled Governor Jon Corzine in the face of growing voter anger over the Governor’s handling of the State’s economy and rising property taxes on his watch, charged Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego (R-8) today.
The breakfast was reported by the liberal blog web site www.bluejersey.com.http://www.bluejersey.com/showDiary.do;jsessionid=DC0DCEC95A90150F20C2E3AED36AE195?diaryId=10497
“While our Republican Freeholders are reducing the size of government and cutting county property taxes in the face of the current economic crisis, the clueless County Democrats are pledging their allegiance to Governor Corzine and embracing his failed economic policies over bacon and eggs,” said Addiego. “In the wake of their breakfast this past weekend, I have two questions: Does the County Democrat Leadership support the Governor’s handling of New Jersey’s economy? Do they plan to campaign side-by-side with the Governor during his re-election effort this November?”
Addiego called the Democrats’ support of Corzine and his failed economic policies a key issue in this year’s elections for State Assembly and Freeholder in Burlington County.
“Recent polls show that nearly 60% of voters disapprove of Governor Corzine’s handling of the economy, and nearly 75% say the state is headed in the wrong direction with him in charge,” said Addiego, citing Monmouth University and Quinnipiac polls released in the last two weeks. “The residents of Burlington County deserve to know where the County Democrat Leadership stands – with the Governor and his failed economic policies or with hardworking people throughout our county struggling to hold on to their jobs and make ends meet?”
