Burlington County Freeholder Director Aubrey Fenton and his running mate, Freeholder Stacey Jordan, today were endorsed for re-election by the Courier-Post in an editorial which said the Republicans offered “principled leadership” and “are part of a management team that continues to deliver good services while keeping the tax rate down.”
The editorial went on to compliment Fenton for taking the lead in bringing together municipal officials throughout the county --- regardless of party --- to explore ways to share services and reduce expenses to respond to the severe cutbacks in state aid.
The endorsement continued: “He and Jordan also are working on an economic recovery plan to make county government leaner and more efficient. The county has already cut 45 positions and will seek to trim the labor force even more in the coming months by leaving non-critical positions vacant.”
“Fenton and Jordan have provided principled and responsible leadership,” the newspaper said, “and have earned the chance to continue as Freeholders.”
“We are deeply appreciative of the editorial support,” the Republicans said, “and take particular pride in the recognition that we have been fiscally responsible, have cut taxes, controlled spending, and delivered high quality service to the people of the county.”
“Our record stands in sharp contrast to that of our opponents in virtually every area of good government,” Fenton and Jordan said. “Our opponents have compiled records of higher taxes, more spending, and responding to private interests and concerns.”
