Inzerillo defends Freeholder Little in "Rastaman" controversy

Monmouth County - Democrat for 13th District Senate Lenny Inzerillo recently stated that he defends Republican Freeholder Anna Little for the array of degrading comments about her made by the anonymous blogger known as "Monmouth Rastaman" over the past year.

Inzerillo said the now private Web site, located at www.monmouthrastaman.blogspot.com, became known in recent months for distributing false, reputation-smearing information about various political figures throughout the county. Little was among the most popular targets of the Web site.

"Some of these comments involved some very inappropriate things about her family and children," he said. "As a father myself, I can confidently say that children should never be dragged into the ugliness of politics, no matter whose children they are."

Although the Web site is strongly believed to have multiple authors, Inzerillo said at least one use has been identified as Alan Moretti, 27, of Rumson. Moretti is the former state vice chairman of the NJ College Republicans and is a committeeman for the Rumson Republican Party. He additionally runs another blog supporting former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for a 2008 presidential run with Chris Pordon, campaign manager for Senator Joe Kyrillos.

Kyrillos serves as Romney's New Jersey Campaign Chairman and has previously endorsed the Romney blog.

Inzerillo said Moretti worked on Little's 2006 successful Freeholder campaign. It was shortly after the election that the "Rasta" site was founded and began to viciously attack her on a regular basis. The then-anonymous blogger additionally claimed to have personal information about her.

"Moretti used his prior relationship working with Anna Little as a weapon to help launch a political attack against her," Inzerillo said. "This is especially disturbing because the people that have been distributing this false information about her appear to be members of her own political party."

Inzerillo said that he wants to know where Senator Kyrillos stands on this sort of behavior. Further, he said that Kyrillos still has yet to respond to claims that he is involved with the "Rastaman" Web site.

"My opponent should really publicly clarify Moretti's role in the Romney campaign as well as his views on Anna Little," he said. "Voters have a right to know the Senator's views on this topic."

Inzerillo said the person sitting in the Senate seat should be solely dedicated to staying informed on the issues and helping taxpayers save money.

Inzerillo added, "If elected to Senate, elected officials and politicians of any party will be treated with the proper respect they deserve regardless of what we personally agree and disagree on. The residents of this district deserve a fair and honest person to represent their views and concerns in the state legislature."
