If Steve Rothman ran for U.S. Senate in 2008, who would get the Democratic nomination for his 9th district House seat?

If Rothman ran for US Senate?

Isn't he doing enough to screw up New Jersey? Why screw up the rest of the country?

I Voted for Loretta, But...

Lautenberg will run and win in 2008.....and if, for any reason, he chose not to run; Frank Pallone would be the strongest replacement.

Why would anyone vote for Senator Encap Sarlo

Sarlo and Bernadette. Are you people mad. Lil Miss Encap won't even win her town this year and Senator Encap is fighting with a 70+ year old man to keep his job in November.

We need new blood for the 9th.

Joe F.

looks like Ferriero controls over 1/2 the possibles on this list. I would think he'd give it to Sarlo, avoid a primary, and put another clone in Sarlo's Senate seat.

Vince Micco

The Republicans had an excellent candidate in Vince Micco last year and did nothing with him which I found absolutely shameful.

With the right people and neccesary warchest behind him, Vince could take that seat outright.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."- Winston Churchill

Please Dino

Get a clue, regardless of your loyalties to Micco, the 9th was made for a Democrat.

Could become a Hudson seat

The BCDO is not strong enough to hold the seat in a competitive primary scenario. Wildes will run no matter who the BCDO picks and Hudson could win the primary just from the votes in North Bergen, Jersey City and Secaucus. McPherson is in a battle for her life in Rutherford and she would never be acceptable to Hudson County. I remember in 1978 when Hudson ran an unknown by the name of Nick Mastorelli for congress and he beat Al Burstein who at the time was the Assembly Majority Leader. Push comes to shove and Hudson can take the seat right from Bergen with almost little resistance.

Politics 101

Bernadette McPhereson is hardly an unknown in Hudson County... don't you know who her father in law is? and why is she in the fight of her life in rutherford? from what i understand she is and extremely popular freeholder as well? Weinberg is a dinosaur but her ouster into congress would probably be a much needed relief for ferriero. the rest don't have name recognition enough for that seat

Nick Sacco

Unless Nick Sacco runs, the Ninth remains in Bergen. Sarlo and McPherson, or even Bob Gordon, would make strong candidates. Their affiliation with Ferriero won't translate into no votes.  It'll only help them since they'll have the organization running their campaigns.
Weinberg has no real organization.
Wildes can raise money but has lost too many times already.
If Zisa can work Hackensack, ...hmmm... Probably not.

Hudson can't agree...

Hudson's Mayors can't even agree on their own candidates County-wide... You think they'll unify behind a Hudson candidate for a Bergen seat?

McPherson is in trouble

She is in a real battle for mayor. She raised taxes and she has all kinds of opposition from various groups opposed to all these unpopular development deals she has endorsed.

The Democrats won only one seat out of two despite outspending the Republicans. The people I speak to in Rutherford say she's really unpopular and it's time for a change.

I'm originally from Hudson and I never heard of her or her father. She is not a good candidate. Wildes has been working it far longer and she lacks any real support outside of Rutherford where she's struggling politically speaking.

McPherson for Congress

If Steve Rothman runs for Senate next year, McPherson will make a fine candidate to take over the 9th district seat. She is smart, articulate, well-liked, and baggage-free.  Rutherford's downtown is spectacular -- a testament to her; and her work as Freeholder Director was free of any major glitches.  It is irrelevant whether or not people in Hudson know her.  She can hold her own in a congressional campaign.
