I want to congratulate the winners of the June 2 Primary and thank the voters who turned out to help the Republican Party select its fall candidates.
I particularly want to congratulate Chris Christie on his win in the gubernatorial Primary. I hope the party will rally behind Chris and work hard to bring us the victory we need that will bring real change to New Jersey in general and Bergen county in particular.
I want to congratulate Steve Lonegan for running a spirited gubernatorial campaign and for the contributions his supporters have made to the party. I invite Steve and his supporters to join us in working for Republican victories in November.
Primary Elections can be contentious and agonizing. A great deal of passion goes into these races. I hope that after a few days or rest and reflection, the Bergen Republican Party can come together, put our differences behind us, and begin working on a successful plan to bring victory to our party from the top of the ticket to the bottom.
The stakes are too high this year to allow petty differences interfere with our ability to run successful campaigns. We must roll up our sleeves and begin working hard to ensure Republican victories in November. I look forward to working with our candidates and their teams as soon as possible.
