WAYNE NJ, May 22, 2009 Assemblyman Scott Rumana will apparently do anything to try to win his Primary Election battle in district 40 except talk about issues, say his challengers Anthony Rottino and Joseph Caruso. Rumana, who was hit with a restraining order from a Superior Court judge yesterday that precludes him from sending out any more vicious literature falsely disparaging his opponents, has yet to issue a truthful statement about any of the issues that concern voters, say Rottino and Caruso. “We are running a campaign on issues that people care about --- such as low income housing mandates, privileges for illegal immigrants and solutions to the state’s economic woes.” said Rottino, a Franklin Lakes resident. "What has Rumana said on these issues? Nothing.” Rumana has instead issued press statements about nonsensical things such as paid for lines on robo calls.“Scott Rumana and his team who live off the government payroll, are doing a tremendous job avoiding talking about Scott’s accomplishments. Why? Is it because he has no accomplishments?” asked Caruso.“Rumana has done nothing to help District 40 get more state education aid; he’s done nothing to overturn Low Income Housing mandates. He has no economic recovery plan. If I were him, I would be trying to change the subject and throw mud too,” said Caruso. Rottino noted the absurdity of a press statement put out by Rumana’s attorney Mark Semeraro. “If I were Mr. Semeraro I would keep a low profile. “Mr. Semeraro needs to explain why Mr. Rumana gave him a $96,000 a year part job as Wayne Township attorney as an employee – eligible for benefits and a pension,” said Rottino. “Why are Wayne taxpayers subsidizing Mr. Semeraro’s pension when he is a partner in a large law firm? Please have Mr. Rumana explain that. The state pension system is $33 billion in debt because of acts such as this committed by ‘reformer” Rumana, said Rottino. Caruso noted that Rumana has yet to explain how he could take hundreds of thousands of dollars from former GOP chairman Peter Murphy yet attack his opponents for being Murphy allies.“Rumana took advantage of the hundreds of thousands dollars that Peter Murphy raised for him. He begged and received Murphy’s support for his mayoral run in Wayne. He has a very long history with Murphy, yet he wants to pretend he never met Peter Murphy,” said Caruso, a Wayne resident. “To my way of thinking, Rumana has the mark of a desperate conniving politician who is trying to reinvent himself,” said Caruso.

“She has already chosen the interests of the insurance industry over the health care needs of working people, she took millions from Wall Street as the economy went into a meltdown, and now she wants to purchase a job in Congress at a time when so many have lost their jobs because of the actions of big bankers and others." -- Monmouth County Democrats spokesman Mike Mangan, on Republican Diane Gooch, who is challenging U.S. Rep.
