PATERSON NJ May 21. 2009 – Today Superior Court Judge Hon. Thomas F. Brogan hit Assemblymen Scott Rumana & David Russo with a restraining order stopping them from publishing more filthy lies conservative Republican candidates Anthony Rottino and Joseph Caruso.
Judge Brogan order calls for a hearing on May 28 on the dispute. Until then Rumana is “enjoined form dissipating further mailers, publications, robo calls, direct calls or engaging in any discussion with respect to Plaintiff (Rottino’s) Development Company, the false statements regarding Taxpayer Backed Bonds and false statements regarding the building of low income housing.”
"The fact that a judge believes that my complaint has enough credibility to warrant a hearing proves that Mr. Rumana and his running mate and advisors have been reckless with the facts,” said Rottino.
Rumana alleges in his mailer that Rottino profited from taxpayer subsidized low income housing.
“That is an outright lie,” said Rottino. “Neither I nor my company ever took taxpayer money to build low income housing. In fact, I never built any low income housing period. Mr. Rumana has failed to do his homework and failed to present the truth."
Rottino said Rumana’s mailers are designed to avoid the Assemblyman from disclosing his weak position on state mandated low income housing.
“I oppose state mandated low income housing construction, Mr. Rumana does not,” said Rottino.
“Steve Lonegan, Chris Christie, my running mate Joe Caruso and I all oppose the notion of Gov. Corzine and Joe Doria, that there is a constitutional right to own taxpayer -subsidized affordable housing. Mr. rumana does not,” said Rottino. “Rumana has not issued a single press statement or authored a bill saying that COAH should be killed and buried.
“Mr. Rumana is a COAH enabler,” said Rottino. “He sponsored legislation (A-3246) that uses state money to buy foreclosed homes and sell them at below market rates as Low Income Housing. That’s absurd.”
Rottino and Caruso oppose the COAH tax on new residential and commercial development. The COAH tax on commercial development this year would amounts to a $160 million tax on job production.
