BERGEN COUNTY REPUBLICANS
Robert Yudin, Chairman
POST ELECTION MESSAGE From Chairman Robert Yudin
Tuesday’s elections demonstrated that the Bergen County Republican Party has made dramatic strides in our quest to regain leadership in county government. Our candidates worked exceedingly hard and so did our volunteers and I want to thank all of them for their hard work.
I want to congratulate Kathe Donovan on another election victory and I want to commend Chris Calabrese, Jeff Heller and Paul Duggan for the endless hours of hard work they put into running one of the best campaigns we have seen in years.
On the local level, the GOP continued to make inroads. We picked up a total of 15 council seats – including two in Paramus. Our South Bergen effort was outstanding and we continue to show strength in northeast Bergen. I want all of you to know I appreciate your hard work and dedication.
I want to assure those who believe in Republicanism that this election is not the end of anything – it is the beginning of something new and exciting and challenging. I want you all to be part of it. We need you to play a role in the continued rebuilding of this proud organization.
In less than five months -- with everyone’s help -- we have turned the organization into a potent force that – if not for the historic results at the top of the ticket – would have brought victory to our freeholder candidates.
We learned a lot from this campaign. We gained valuable knowledge about the way county government is operating under a corrupt Democrat organization and we learned how much that corruption is costing our taxpayers.
The Bergen County Republican Organization has become the voice of the taxpayer and the voice of those who are truly interested in representing the people who live in Bergen County. We emerged as a respected watchdog party.
We must not lose the momentum we have gained this year. In the coming days we will review our campaign effort and strategy. We will examine what we did well and what we can do better. The Bergen County Republican Organization will continue to be a loud and constant voice for the interests of the voters and taxpayers of Bergen County. We will continue to work to uncover the wasteful spending and the sweetheart deals that have become too common in Bergen County. To do that, we need your help. We need your talent and insights. We need your effort.
In January we will hit the ground running – preparing for next year’s battles. Victory belongs to those who work the hardest and the longest. Bergen County will be a pivotal battleground in the 2009 gubernatorial election. We accept that responsibility and we are ready to meet the challenges that we will face next year.
I look forward to hearing from you and working with you so that we may continue the gains we made this year into 2009.
God Bless you all, Bob Yudin
