MICCO SAYS NOV. 4 CHOICE IS CLEAR VOTE FOR CHANGE IN CONGRESS & McCAIN

PRESS RELEASE MICCO FOR CONGRESS Bergen, Passaic, Hudson Counties Immediate Release October 31, 2008 973-403-7836 201-575-9394

Rutherford NJ Oct. 31, 2008 -- In the closing days of the Ninth district congressional campaign, Republican Vince Micco said that the choice for real change in America is to support candidates not wedded to Washington’s failures. When it comes to national security, the economy, energy policy and taxes, I believe Congress has failed the nation and it’s time for fresh new leadership,” said Micco at a Wednesday evening debate with incumbent Rep. Steve Rothman (D-Ninth). “The economy is the most urgent issue we face and I want to protect New Jersey’s taxpayers by opposing Barack Obama and those liberals in Congress who are calling for more taxes and bigger government,” added Micco.

“If Barack Obama is elected with a Democrat congressional majority we will suffer a massive redistribution of wealth from those who work hard for a living to those who don’t want to work,” said Micco.

Micco says entrenched congressional incumbents, such as Rothman, have gotten too comfortable in office and have taken tens of thousand of dollars from Wall Street investment houses. Consequently, the Democrat-controlled Congress failed to exercise regulatory oversight of the investment industry that helped create the current financial troubles.

“We must have more accountability from our government regulators and the career politicians who obviously fell asleep at the wheel and allowed sub-prime mortgages to bring our economy to its knees,” said Micco a mortgage advisor.

“I would bring my 10 years of expertise in the mortgage industry to Washington to bring about change and solutions that help New Jersey's hard working middle class people struggling to keep their homes. Micco said that instead of bailing out Wall Street, Congress should enact a pro-growth agenda including tax cuts for workers and businesses, a reduction in capital gains tax to attract investors, fund much-needed repairs on our domestic infrastructure, lift the moratorium on offshore drilling and take this opportunity to scrap the current Federal Tax code in favor of a fairer, simpler one.

“Democrats and left-wing groups like ACORN, conducted their social experiments on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and sewed the seeds of the economic problems we see today,” said Micco. “They wanted to create shortcuts to homeownership. But there are no shortcuts – just disasters when we substitute a liberal social agenda for financial discipline.”

“The Democrats in Congress who failed to heed the warning signs about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac must be held accountable to the taxpayers for ignoring calls for stricter oversight on government sponsored enterprises,” he added. Micco said residents of the district will be better off with John McCain as president and a new Congress that is not linked to past failures.

“John McCain will not raise your taxes; Barack Obama and Steve Rothman will, ” said Micco. “John McCain will get the economy going by cutting taxes and investing in a broad energy plan that includes increasing domestic oil production. Barack Obama and Steve Rothman will take your money and give it to someone else and will keep us dependent on foreign energy supplies.” said Micco. “John McCain and I are proud to have served our country and proud of America. Barack Obama and Steve Rothman share a "Woodstock" worldview that invites the very crisis that Joe Biden predicts will occur if they win.

“I think the choice is pretty clear for the Ninth District and for President,” said Micco
