 BERGEN COUNTY REPUBLICANS

Robert Yudin, Chairman

Yudin Will Be Attending McCain Event In Carlstadt

HACKENSACK. Bergen County Republican Organization Chairman Robert Yudin says tonight’s event in Carlstadt honoring Republican presidential candidate John McCain should not be used by party malcontents to vent their anger over his victory in June against former chairman Robert Ortiz.

Yudin, a Viet Nam era military veteran, says tonight’s event is not a rally formed by the New Jersey Veterans for McCain, but is one he plans to attend. Yudin is vice chair of the New Jersey Veterans for McCain and serves on the McCain finance committee.

“No one ever told me I was not invited to tonight’s event in Carlstadt and I intend to go and I have been encouraging BCRO members to attend and show their support for John McCain,” said Yudin.

He said information leaked to a political web site today indicating he was not invited to the event because of his appointment of former Assemblyman Paul DiGaetano as campaign coordinator for the county ticket headed by John McCain – including the county clerk and freeholder ticket – is “absurdly childish.”

“I appointed Paul DiGaetano to the coordinator’s position because I want to see John McCain win Bergen County and to do that he has to do well in South Bergen. We need a person with South Bergen experience to help make that happen and Paul DiGaetano has represented the district in South Bergen for 16 years,” said Yudin.

The Chairman said that those who are angered over the DiGaetano appointment and are trying to create fractures between him and state Sen. Kevin O’Toole and assemblymen David Russo and Scott Rumana are “acting like spoiled children who care more about their own interests than the interests of the Republican Party.”

“There are those who do not want to see me succeed as chairman. I know that, but that is not going to stop me from working for the good of the party – and that includes the re-election of Sen. O’Toole and assemblymen Rumana and Russo,” said Yudin. “I support them and I hope they support me.”

“I have no interest or desire to encourage intra-party fighting or feuds between personalities. That’s not what my chairmanship is going to be about. It’s about building a winning organization,” said Yudin

Yudin said the POLITICKERNJ. story is continued evidence that the pro-Ortiz malcontents are continually working to undermine the BCRO and the chances of McCain and the county slate to win in November.

“I was hoping that at some point the grown ups in the party would realize that this mindless infighting and undermining of my chairmanship does nothing except help Democrats win,” said Yudin.

“I am still hopeful that the grown ups in the party will soon prevail and we can all start working together to win elections instead of hurting the party and our candidates.”
