(Trenton)--- Assembly Federal Relations Chair Reed Gusciora (D-Princeton) blasted Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Forrester today for conducting a "continual Conga-ine of Political Distortion and Sleeze." Gusciora pointed to the candidate's propensity to forego substantive issues through out the campaign and instead "throw mud, distortions, personal innuendo and sleeze."
"Mr. Forrester hasn't distanced himself from negative campaigning," said Gusciora. "Rather he finger points to spin-wheel charts to avoid talking about substantive issues. Unfortunately, he does the voters a disservice."
Gusciora also said it was "hypocritical of Doug" to continually play "six degrees of separation with every one-time Democrat operative" when the Forrester lineage to corruption is a "direct dial."
"He simply can't have it both ways," said Gusciora. "It is Mr. Forrester who is the only candidate to fit his own 'pay-to-play' profile."
Gusciora noted the Philadelphia Inquirer recently reported that Forrester's prescription benefits company received more than $3 million in contracts from the Burlington County Special Services School District after contributing thousands of dollars to the county Republican Party.
In addition, as for "guilt by association" tactics, Gusciora noted Forrester's own direct connections with the "axis of corruption" in Washington.
On June 21, 2005 Forrester campaigned with Federal grand jury target, Karl Rove, who is being investigated for leaking the identity of a CIA agent. Rove also is credited with tarnishing Senator John McCain during the 2000 Republican presidential primary by orchestrating a "push poll" to South Carolina primary voters with racist comments about McCain's adoptive child from Bangladesh."
On July 23, 2005 Vice President, Dick Cheney hosted a fundraiser for Forrester that raised $300,000. The Vice President's Chief of Staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, resigned after being indicted by a federal grand jury. Cheney himself led the "largely discredited" minsinformation campaign that led to the Iraq War. Dick also was responsible for the Administration's policies that rooted out over 20 military linguists who specialized in Arabic and Farsi languages for being gay.
Finally, "Martha Stewart-like insider trader," Senate President Bill Frist, campaigned for Forrester in early October.
"If Doug insists on admonishing others who associate themselves with bad people," concluded Gusciora. "I wouldn't live in a glass house if I were he."

“She has already chosen the interests of the insurance industry over the health care needs of working people, she took millions from Wall Street as the economy went into a meltdown, and now she wants to purchase a job in Congress at a time when so many have lost their jobs because of the actions of big bankers and others." -- Monmouth County Democrats spokesman Mike Mangan, on Republican Diane Gooch, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone.
