Guadagno to stay in Assembly race as six cops run for Sheriff

Kim Guadagno, a Monmouth Beach Commissioner and former federal prosecutor, will remain a candidate for the GOP State Assembly nomination in the eleventh district and not enter the race for Monmouth County Sheriff.  Guadagno had been mentioned as a possible Sheriff candidate since Joseph Oxley unexpectedly announced his retirement earlier this month.

Now David Rible, a former Wall PBA President who is also an Assembly candidate in the 11th , is mulling a bid for Sheriff.  He could join three other prospective Republican nominees: Howell Police Sergeant David Flaherty, former Atlantic Highlands Councilman Fred Rast, and Monmouth SPCA official Victor “Buddy Amato.  All three are career law enforcement officials.

Two Democrats are seeking party support to run for the open seat: Glenn Mason, a Hazlet police officer and school board member; and former Ocean Township PBA President Kevin Quinn.
