TRENTON - Governor Jon S. Corzine signed the following bills into law today:
S-229/A-3182 (Bucco, Cardinale/DeCroce, Bramnick) – Increases maximum death benefit of group life insurance policies paid for by fire district or municipality maintaining volunteer fire department.
S-383/A-2523 (Sacco, Ciesla/Cohen, Prieto) – Increases penalty amounts to $1,500 and $3,000 for violations of certain laws regulating retail sale of motor fuel.
SCS for S-460/A-2640 (Sweeney, Bryant/Burzichelli, Watson Coleman) – Permits the consolidation of the boards of education of a county vocational school district and a county special services school district into one board.
S-548/A-2532 (B.Smith, Palaia/S.Kean, Corodemus, Voss, Gordon, Greenstein) – Permits the establishment of sick leave banks for school employees.
S-780/A-428 (Madden/Mayer, Moriarty) – Prohibits the sale of Yo-Yo Waterballs.
S-1758/ACS for A-3028 (Vitale, Weinberg/Conaway, Prieto, Schaer, Voss) – Safe Patient Handling Act; requires health care facilities to establish safe patient handling programs.
S-2428/A-3813 (Adler/Cohen, Vandervalk) – Allows state banks to provide for staggered terms of directors in certificate of incorporation.
S-2516/A-4162 (Girgenti, Inverso/Greenstein, Manzo) – Requires Violence Institute of UMDNJ to undertake comprehensive study of Megan’s Law.
S-2835/A-4335 (Karcher, Vitale/Cryan, Munoz) – Authorizes DYFS to review prospective resource family parents’ child abuse record information from other states, and provides these parents with right to be heard at certain hearings.
S-2905/A-4617 (T. Kean, Turner/Munoz, Vas, Voss, Vandervalk) – Clarifies that in nonpublic schools the school nurse would be required to recruit and train volunteer designees to administer epinephrine to students when nurse is not physically present.
S-2943/A-4594 (Sweeney/Greenwald) – Reduces annual assessment on intermediate care facilities for the mentally retarded from 5.8% to 5.3% for limited period.
SJR-55/AJR-126 (Sweeney, Cunningham/Burzichelli) – Designates November of each year as “Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month.”
A-806/S-2630 (Chivukula, Greenstein, Wisniewski/Singer, Sarlo) – Clarifies law on incorporation of religious societies or congregations by eliminating outdated references to specific religious groups; lowers age requirement for those electing trustees for purpose of incorporation.
A-1940/S-2680 (Wisniewski, Cohen, Chivukula, Stack/Girgenti, Bucco) – Upgrades penalty for misusing public utility employee identification badge; establishes penalties for making, selling or possessing simulated public utility employee identification badge.
A-2663/S-1496 (Moriarty, Mayer, Conners, Burzichelli, Cruz-Perez/Sweeney, Madden) – Provides for voluntary contributions by taxpayers on gross income tax returns to support New Jersey Veterans Haven program.
A-2667/S-1756 (Manzo, Gusciora, Conaway, Stack/L. Connors, Inverso) – Upgrades penalties for recruiting minors and confined persons to be in criminal street gang.
A-2761/S-2381 (Chivukula/Weinberg) – Changes criteria for eligibility to receive limited teaching certificates in dental schools.
A-3027/S-1761 (Conaway, Prieto, Voss, Vas/Vitale, Coniglio) – Violence Prevention in Health Care Facilities Act, requires certain health care entities to establish violence prevention programs to protect health care workers.
A-3197/S-1936 (Green, Cruz-Perez, Gordon/Rice, James) – Lowers to 62 statutory qualifying age for low-income senior citizen State rental assistance grants.
A-3531/S-2625 (Giblin, Wisniewski, Gordon, DeCroce/Sacco, Girgenti) – Designates New Jersey Route No. 23 as “Robert A. Roe Highway”; appropriates $2,500.
A-3622/S-2304 (Vas, Chivukula, Van Drew, Wisniewski/T. Kean, Vitale) – Provides certain employment protections for employees on military leave in time of war or emergency.
A-3863 (Cohen, Wisniewski, Bateman, Vandervalk) – Eliminates requirements for private passenger automobile insurers and agents to provide certain information on premium options.
A-3888/S-2417 (Cohen, Vandervalk, Prieto/Cardinale, Kyrillos) – Authorizes local units to invest in federally insured certificates of deposit under certain circumstances.
A-3977/S-2739 (Scalera, Giblin, Diegnan/Sarlo, Cardinale) – Authorizes use of logo and warning light for certain public utilities employees.
A-4331/S-2780 (C.Connors, Rumpf/L.Connors) – Authorizes State Treasurer to exchange certain parcels of real property in Stafford Township, Ocean County.
