GOP leader wants Kyrillos to enter Senate race

Monmouth County GOP Chairman Adam Puharic wants State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos to enter the race for United States Senate.

"If Joe Kyrillos got in the race, it would be a game-changing event for New Jersey politics," said Puharic, who served on Anne Evans Estabrook’s exploratory committee but has not endorsed a candidate in the race.

Kyrillos, 48, has served as New Jersey Chairman of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. He has served in the State Senate since 1991 and spent four years as an Assemblyman and three years as the GOP State Chairman.

Estabrook, State Sen. Joseph Pennacchio and Ramapo College professor Murray Sabrin are already seeking the GOP nod to challenge incumbent Frank Lautenberg.

P-L-E-A-S-E

Kyrillos is a joke.  Says many foolish things.  Has no clear vision for the future.  Failed miserably when GOP Chairman and then whistled on down the lane.

WAIT, he is the perfect NJ GOP candidate!!  C'mon, he lost to Pallone of all people (Tee-hee).

This Joe Better Than The Other Joe

He makes a lot more sense as a US Senate candidate than Joe Pennacchio and certainly head and shoulders better than Anne.

Yes, I would put Senator Kyrillos second behind Murray Sabrin as my choices.

With 4 months to go, no money or organization and most of the County Chairman bought and paid for, sorry, I mean, lining up behind Anne, is it to late for a 4th candidate?

Suddenly..

The race for US Senate just got more interesting. I hope for all of us he decides to run, it's about time we had a real candidate to support.

Another spinelss candidate

Joe Kyrillos was an absolutely spinelss state chairman.  He is and was such a "go along, get along" kind of guy that he never stepped up to the plate and defended what the R's accomplished during the 1990s.  When McGreevey found it easier to announce that he was gay than to face the music about the corruption that was rampant throughout the State House, Joe called it a "sad day for NJ."

He should have said, "McGreevey has been an abject failure who sent NJ down a pathway of corruption and that he should resign immediately."  Instead Joe was go along get along.

At every opportunity that Joe had to stand up or sit down, he chose to sit down.

The only way the R's will beat lautenberg is to run such an aggressive campaign that FL is forced to reveal himself as the reincarnation of Mr. McGoo.

Joe Kyrillos just isn't tough enough for the job.

YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Didn't he lost to Pallone...whats up with that. Can the race handle two Jersey Joe's??? Wake me up when all this excitment is over.

Puharic???

Adam Puharic is a classless and juvenile bully. He had a federal government job while serving as Monmouth County Republican Chairman, which is a direct violation of the Hatch act. Where does he work anyway? Is he still unemployed. This guy can't even hold down a job.

Kyrillos is a good guy. He is also close to Puharic. Puharic would not have said this without Kyrillos' blessing.

Pennacchio is the choice

Senator Kyrillos was good to support Romney.  He is a good choice, but Pennacchio is the better choice.

I hope he does it

I don't live in Monmouth County but wish I did. Kyrillos is one of the few Republicans out there in our state who gets it. The rest of the field is a joke. I hope he runs. He'd be better than that fossil who's in there now.

Sorry if I offended your great grandfather Dark Lord. (what kind of name is Dark Lord any way? you must take the little bus)

Pallone

I'm not sure why everyone is trashing Pallone here, he is a successful Congressman that is loved by his district. Pallone is a good man and a great congressman. Pallone is a fighter and he beat Joe because he was better at the game. Joe K. wont run for Senate, he is looking at Lt. Gov. on the GOP ticket in 09. He has never been able to pull the trigger

Run

Joe Kyrillos would be the best candidate the GOP has put up in decades. He has the ability to unite both the conservative and moderate factions of this party as he is uniquely qualified. His run against Pallone in 92 was a long time ago and Joe proves that he can raise as much as any Democrat they can put up in November. Kyrillos would blow out the field at this point. He has been a leader on a ton of issues. He has a long record of accomplishments to run on. I say go Joe.

Chris Christie, Kevin

Chris Christie, Kevin O'Toole, Bill Baroni and Joe Kyrillos are far and away the Republicans best shots to win statewide at this point in time.  Kyrillos would be a great candidate for US Senate, and would become the clear frontrunner overnight.  Great move for Joe!

Simply the best

Senator Kyrillos has been a leader on the most important issues facing New Jersey. He is far and away the best possible Republican for U.S. Senate, and frankly, for Governor.

Joe should absolutely get into the race.

SJBlue, Pallone does a good

SJBlue,

Pallone does a good job with constituent services, but in Kyrillos's defense, though, keep in mind he had two big things working against him in 1992- demographics in the district and the national ticket.  George H.W. Bush only got something like 40% of the NJ vote.  It doesn't matter how good you are at the game if you're starting from too far behind.

Kyrillos is a better candidate than Estabrook, hands down.

I wonder why?

Why would Senator Kyrillos want to run for the US Senate, if there are already three declared candidates? Perhaps, to split and divide conservative vote so that the moderate Estabrook will get the nomination. And we know where that leads us into. Nowhere, that's where.

So let's unite behind one candidate that makes sense. This time it is Prof. Murray Sabrin.

We need a 5th Option!

I am more inclined to starts a draft Steve Forbes movement then to think that State Senator Kryrillos is a game-changing event.

divide conservatives?

By entering the race, Kyrillos wouldn't divide conservatives - He would give them a candidate to unite around. Along with moderates, and democrats, and independents

There are, however, definitely some important differences between Joe Kyrillos and murray sabrin, among which are credibility as a candidate and a record of accomplishment in elected office

What accomplishments?

Would you be more specific what these accomplishments are?

Um, GOP Genie?

You must be stuck in your bottle.  Kyrillos is spineless and exactly what GOP DOES NOT NEED right now.  While I agree completely that, as you said, "my great grandfather" is a fossil, Kyrillos has been in the game too long, we need someone with fresh ideas.

BTW, why attack me personally?  I did ride the short bus.  I happen to be in a wheelchair.  Sorry if my affliction offends you, but your attack only deminishes your argument, that, without such attacks, would have been thoughtful and a positive contribution to the banter. However, you seem to be nothing more than a geek who uses stock metaphors to insult people.

Kyrillos

would have a chance in the General Election by the general public.  Getting out of the Primary would be a challenge since registered Republicans know what a doof he is.  Dreadful as State Chairman.

DARK LORD - IT IS NOT YOUR

DARK LORD - IT IS NOT YOUR AFFLICTION THAT OFFENDS ME BUT YOUR OPINIONS AND ATTITUDE. IT IS HYPOCRITICAL TO PERSONALLY ATTACK SOMEONE AND NOT EXPECT A SMACK BACK. NOW QUIT WHINING, STOP BEING A HYPOCRITE, AND ADMIT THAT SEN. JOE KYRILLOS IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE REST.

ON TAX RELIEF, JOB CREATION, BORDER SECURITY AND PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT KYRILLOS HAS A RECORD THAT FOSSIL LAUTENBERG CAN'T TOUCH...

...why are you shouting? It belittles your point.

Again, you throw names at me.  Was I critical of you?  Either you are Joe Kyrillos, or one of his friends.  Either way, he's not a good candidate, but another RINO.  Again, I agree with you on Rip Van Lautenberg, so get off my back.

Joe...Wait

I like Joe Kyrillos and my advice to him as a friend is... not this year.   NJ will go big for the Democratic nominee and not enough votes will cross over to elect an R to the Senate.

Senate Race!!!!!!!!!

Kyrillos, is the biggest LOSER the NJ Republicans have except for the all the rest of them combined - They are the worst this state and country can produce, next to the current Presidential Chooses.............
