GOP Freeholder candidates demand Democrats stop using public funds for campaign literature
Gloucester County Republican Freeholder candidates Phil Tartaglione, Joe Bowe and Michael Krawitz are demanding that the all Democratic Freeholder Board stop using county taxpayer funds for political advantage. In the just mailed county newsletter "Gloucester County Today" Steve Sweeney's photo appears three times, including twice on the front page."We call on the county to adapt a regulation similar to state and federal regulations, prohibiting unsolicited mail from being sent out within 90 days of an election" says Phil Tartaglione. "While we feel it is important to keep the public informed, especially regarding important issues like free flu shots, we don't feel the county taxpayers should foot the bill to glorify candidates up for reelection" says Michael Krawitz.
"With political corruption and Pay-To-Play being in the news almost daily, even the appearance of using public money for political reasons should be avoided," stated Joe Bowe. Tartaglione continued "information regarding flu shots and other important issues can be sent to residents without promoting Freeholder candidates that are up for reelection"
According to Krawitz "the democratic ticket has already raised almost $700,000.00 in their campaign coffers, much of it from professionals and businesses who do business with Gloucester County. Certainly the democrats don't need to resort to using public funds to promote their candidates three weeks from Election Day".
"State law prohibits legislators from sending unsolicited mail within 90 days of an election, and we call on Gloucester County to hold elected officials to the same high standards" stated the three GOP candidates.
