McKeon today will be joined by bi-partisan lawmakers and environmentalists at a news conference organized by the 'Keep It Green Coaltion' to announce new developments in the ballot question measure that gives voters the choice on funding of open space.The Coalition comprises 126 environmental and other groups with a 300,000 strong membership. McKeon's ballot question measure (A-3901) would empower voters to replenish the bankrupt Garden State Preservation Trust (GSPT) that runs out of money in July. The GSPT funds open space. "In a week that lawmakers map out New Jersey's financial road for the next year, it is crucial to give voters the choice to protect and continue our significant investment in open space," McKeon (D-Essex) said.
