Maverick Murray “Outs” the Core of “La NJGOP Nostra”

Jersey City, NJ – New Jersey conservative Republican leader Dr. “Maverick Murray” Sabrin, the Garden State’s strongest advocate of limited government and individual freedom and candidate for United States Senate, released a letter sent to the United States Attorney for New Jersey, Christopher Christie to investigate the alleged corruption and campaign violations associated with Dick Zimmer’s U.S. Senate candidacy.  Dr. Sabrin also announced he had a specific conversation with Assistant United States Attorney in the Special Prosecutions Division, Daniel Gibbons, this afternoon informing him about the evidence and requesting immediate action.  Dr. Sabrin released a copy of his letter to Mr. Christie below.

Maverick Murray stated, “Dick Zimmer is part of a cabal of political ‘insiders’ using every means possible to maintain their control over the Republican Party in New Jersey.  There have been serious allegations of corruption, intimidation and lawlessness surrounding the campaign of Dick Zimmer and we have not received a response from the United States Attorney’s office so far.”  Sabrin continued, “The Republican voters need to be sure the process of selecting candidates to run for office has not been tainted and I call upon United States Attorney Chris Christie to investigate these charges against Dick Zimmer and his campaign immediately.  At the center of this alleged conspiracy has been Ronald Gravino, the treasurer for the campaigns of Anne Estabrook, Andy Unanue and Dick Zimmer.”

Dr. Sabrin stated, “Chris Christie needs to bring Ronald Gravino, Anne Estabrook, Andy Unanue and Dick Zimmer in for questioning and put them ‘under oath’ immediately.  There is nothing more sacred in our democracy then clean and fair elections.”

Since Ronald Gravino has been the treasurer of the corrupted Republican Establishment for many years, Dr. Sabrin wrote in his letter to Mr. Christie, “If you feel conflicted because of a personal or political relationship with Ronald Gravino, we would expect you to recuse yourself and appoint a Special Prosecutor to handle this situation immediately.”

Maverick Murray said, “If the charges against them are true they should be prosecuted to send a clear message that corrupt bosses, whether political or mafia, are not welcome in New Jersey!  I will not allow Dick Zimmer and the political bosses to steal this election!”

Recent FEC filings have shown that Anne Estabrook prepaid months of her campaign apparatus after her departure from the campaign.  Andy Unanue’s campaign never filed any campaign expenditures or revenue, and most of Dick Zimmer’s campaign apparatus was “inherited” from Anne Estabrook and are now “volunteers”.

Previously, State Senator Joe Pennacchio’s campaign alleged that not only is Dick Zimmer’s candidacy a fraud and attempting “to circumvent the electoral process” but Dick Zimmer’s campaign had also threatened Joe Pennacchio’s campaign with intimidation tactics.  Dick Zimmer has not answered these previous questions.

Dick Zimmer hides behind his work with Common Cause in New Jersey – his actions are hypocritcal, at best.

LETTER VIA FACSIMILE

May 21, 2008

The Honorable Christopher Christie

United States Attorney for New Jersey

970 Broad Street, 7th Floor

Newark, NJ 07102

FACSIMILE: (973) 297-2010

Dear Mr. Christie;

As per my telephone conversation with Assistant United States Attorney, Daniel Gibbons in your Special Prosecutions Division, I am imploring upon you to prevent massive election and campaign violations in the upcoming June 3rd Republican Primary.

We requested your office on April 18, 2008, to investigate previous allegations of corruption, intimidation and lawlessness surrounding the campaign of Dick Zimmer.  To date, we have not received a response or inquiry from your office.

In addition, it has become quite clear Dick Zimmer’s U.S. Senate campaign is part of a cabal of “insiders” trying to purport a fraud in the June 3rd Republican Primary.  The evidence is crystal clear and it won’t take more than one of your legal interns to review recent FEC campaign filings from Anne Estabrook, Andy Unanue and Dick Zimmer.

Well Established Facts

As you know, Anne Estabrook launched her U.S. Senate campaign in 2007, hired a complete campaign staff with offices and furniture and paid for this with a $1.6 million personal donation to her campaign.  On March 5, 2008, Ms. Estabrook officially withdrew from the campaign, yet she prepaid months of expenses after her official departure.

On April 1, 2008, New York City resident, Andy Unanue, entered the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate assuming Ms. Estabrook’s campaign staff, office, and apparatus.  This campaign apparatus collected petitions to secure an official position on the June 3rd ballot; however, there have been no reports of campaign expenditures or revenue from Mr. Unanue.

No sooner than three days after the petitions were filed, Mr. Unanue officially withdrew from the campaign and Dick Zimmer was appointed to fill his vacancy.  The actions surrounding this “switch” have been widely reported and our campaign called upon your office to investigate the allegations of corruption, intimidation and lawlessness.  However, there has been no contact by your office about these claims.

Since the “switch”, Dick Zimmer has “inherited” Ms. Estabrook’s campaign staff, office, and apparatus and just recently has filed his mandatory FEC reports.  The original Estabrook campaign apparatus has continued working for Dick Zimmer “as volunteers”.  It is against the law for Anne Estabrook to make a $600,000+ donation to Dick Zimmer’s campaign.

At the center of this alleged conspiracy has been Ronald Gravino and he needs to be held accountable.  Ronald Gravino serves as the Treasurer of all three of these campaigns and we demand your office immediately bring him along with Anne Estabrook, Andy Unanue and Dick Zimmer into questioning and put them under oath.  Your actions are needed immediately since there is less than two weeks before Election Day and every day this purported conspiracy continues it harms our campaign and the legitimacy of the outcome of the election.

Ronald Gravino is the Former Chairman of the New Jersey Highway Authority and is part of the corrupted political establishment within the New Jersey Republican Party which has shown its willingness to do anything and say anything to maintain what little power they have left.

If you feel conflicted because of a personal or political relationship with Ronald Gravino, we would expect you to recuse yourself and appoint a Special Prosecutor to handle this situation immediately.

As I explained in my conversation with Mr. Gibbons, we will be making our conversations and correspondence immediately available to the public.  Time is of the essence.

In Liberty,

Murray Sabrin, Ph.D.

Republican Candidate for the United States Senate
