Summit, NJ –Republican Congressional candidate Darren Young, District 7’s champion of constitutional law, personal liberty and responsibility, today blasted his primary opponents for their liberal views in advance of tomorrow night’s debate, which will be held at the Mountainside Borough Hall on Thursday, May 22nd from 7:30-8:30 pm.
Young began, “My opponents are just like Linda Stender. They accept the status quo and have no interest in the vision of limited federal government for which our Founding Fathers fought. As a descendant of John Adams, I guess you can say I'm trying to hold on to a family tradition.”
Young offered predictions of the unconstitutional, liberal pandering that each of his opponents would offer during the debate:
Leonard Lance – “Leonard Lance will once again tell the voters that he doesn’t think that hospitals should be profit-making enterprises. I guess Linda Stender is not the only candidate in favor of socialized medicine.”
Kate Whitman – “If Kate Whitman brings up her ‘bold’ initiative to reduce federal spending by 10%, be skeptical. Federal spending is increasing by 5% a year. If she were able to achieve her ‘lofty’ goal on day 1 of entering office, federal spending would be back to the exact same level at the end of her term! With a nearly 10 trillion dollar federal debt, that’s simply not good enough.”
Kelly Hatfield – “Kelly Hatfield is a classic big-government liberal who thinks the federal government should be responsible for ensuring that everyone has health insurance and a good job. There’s nothing conservative about her at all - she should be running in the Democratic primary against Linda Stender.”
Marty Marks – “Marty Marks will offer his usual pandering to social conservatives, touting a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. That is not conservative at all! The federal government should not be in the marriage business – leave that to religious institutions.”
Tom Roughneen – “While I respect Tom Roughneen’s service to our country, the mission he was given by his military superiors is ridiculous. When Roughneen mentions how he taught Robert’s Rules of Order to Iraqi Sheikhs, ask yourselves where the United States Constitution gives the Federal Government the right to put our grandchildren in debt to China so that our military can do social work 6,000 miles away in Iraq. It doesn’t – this was an unconstitutional war, a nation-building boondoggle, and I have taken the Sabrin Promise saying that we should leave Iraq with honor by September, 2010. ”
Darren Young is a software developer living in Summit, NJ with his wife Jane Pickering and 2 children, Madison and Adam. He is a longtime advocate of limited government, individual freedom, and the US Constitution. Young will appear on the June 3rd Republican Primary ballot under the line "Constitutional Republicans Protecting the Liberty Platform" headed by Dr. Murray Sabrin for US Senate.
