Jersey City, NJ - New Jersey conservative Republican leader Dr. Murray Sabrin, the Garden State's strongest advocate of limited government and individual freedom and candidate for United States Senate, launched the Reform Campaign in Ocean County at 4 p.m. today at the Ocean County Courthouse in Toms River by unveiling a full slate of reform candidates running in the June 3rd Republican Primary. This team will run under the slogan "Traditional Republicans for Reform and Accountability." The current Republican County Chairman is George Gilmore who has been accused of running a corrupt political operation while benefiting his legal practice.
Joe Haelig, who runs the Traditional Republican Organization of Ocean County, welcomed everyone with his remarks as he introduced Dr. Sabrin, "Today is a great day for Republicans in Ocean County since it marks a necessary step in taking back our Party from the failed and corrupt Boss Gilmore. Dr. Sabrin will lead an outstanding ticket of reformers in Ocean County and I am proud to introduce him today."
Dr. Sabrin remarked, "While our nation is a war and our economy is suffering, Boss Gilmore and his corrupt lackeys continue to care more about lining their own pockets than protecting Ocean County families. One of the main reasons the New Jersey Republican Party has continued to fail is because the leadership of the GOP is riddled with conflicts of interest." Sabrin continued, "If I am fortunate enough to be elected to the United States Senate, I pledge not meet with any lobbyist who also serves as a State Chairman or a County Chairman of any political party. I will lead by example."
Justin Murphy, candidate for United States Congress in the 3rd District of New Jersey, stated, "New Jersey taxpayers continue to share the highest burden of taxation in our nation. The deceptive practices of the current Ocean County Republican organization have only increased this tax burden. We need to clean up this repulsive mess and as a Congressman for Ocean County, I will help reduce the tax burden for families and reform the political chaos."
Ocean County Freeholder candidate, Suzanne Penna, commented, "Ocean County taxpayers have suffered at the greedy hands of pay-to-play lawyers and lobbyists. We were promised lower taxes and less spending, what we received was higher taxes and the largest spending increase in the history of Ocean County. It is time to clean up this corrupt mess!"
Peter McCarthy, who is running for Ocean County Clerk, said, "The County College Board of Trustees promised to eliminate wasteful spending and instead forced the largest tuition increase in New Jersey. The current County Clerk double-dips as the Mayor of Stafford Township where he has repeatedly hiked taxes. If Ocean County taxpayers want more of the same, then vote with Boss Gilmore and his corrupt machine; if they want change - we promise to bring change to Ocean County."
Ocean County Surrogate candidate, Donato "Don" Lombardi remarked, "As Ocean County families worry about home foreclosures and job security, the current Surrogate's office is a patronage mill where political hacks are hired for their 'connections' and not their 'competence.' This will change when I am elected."
The press conference will be held at the Ocean County Courthouse (118 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ) at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008. In addition to the Reform Candidates, District 3 Delegates to the Republican National Convention attending the Press Conference are Bob Haelig, Dwayne Gethard and Robert Cottrell.
