Paterson City Council Unanimously adopts Resolution Calling for the purchase of Environmentally Friendly Vehicles

Paterson, NJ - The municipal Council of the City of Paterson unanimously adopted a resolution sponsored by Councilman Julio Tavarez calling for all new vehicles purchased by the City of Paterson to be environmentally friendly. The resolution reads, "The Municipal Council of the City of Paterson believes that every effort should be made by the City government to become more energy efficient and environmentally friendly" and that "the Municipal Council has supported "green" initiatives and recognizes that increasing efficiency is not only good for the environment, it also can save substantial tax dollars." The resolution is the first of its kind in Passaic County.

According to Councilman Tavarez, "by purchasing vehicles that are environmentally friendly the city of Paterson will reduce harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases emitted by traditional motor vehicles."
