(TOMS RIVER, April 14) – In response to learning of a financial contribution that his “Republican” primary opponent, Chris Myers, made to liberal Democrat Senator Frank Lautenberg – Third District Republican candidate for Congress, Freeholder Jack Kelly – offered the following:
“I find it hard to believe that Chris Myers is calling himself a 'conservative Republican' considering the shocking revelation that he recently donated to Democrat Senator Frank Lautenberg’s re-election campaign. At a time when rank-and-file Republicans are working diligently to defeat Lautenberg – a liberal, tax and spend Democrat – it was disheartening to learn that Chris Myers felt so strongly about his support for Lautenberg that he decided to work against the Republican Party by personally contributing to his campaign. As someone who has dedicated their life to the Republican Party and public service, it baffles me how 'a conservative Republican' and 'Washington outsider' could personally contribute to the liberal 'Washington insider' – Frank Lautenberg. It is clear that I am the candidate in this race who truly believes in the principles of the Republican Party of Ronald Reagan, not the Democrat Party of Hillary Clinton.”
Kelly concluded, “On behalf of the Republican US Senate candidates, Republican County Committee members, and Republican volunteers who have given their personal time and resources to defeat Frank Lautenberg, I am calling on Chris Myers to explain why he personally donated resources to actively work against them.”
