(TOMS RIVER, April 9) – Third District Republican candidate for Congress, Freeholder Jack Kelly, today announced that he has proudly signed the Earmark Reform Pledge (which was put forward by taxpayer watchdog group – Citizens Against Government Waste) and encouraged his opponents to do the same.
Kelly explained, “Signing the Earmark Reform Pledge was a very important aspect of my campaign for Congress because I want to go to Washington to change the status quo, not become engulfed in it. It is imperative that we eliminate wasteful spending in Washington DC and by signing this pledge I have vowed to fight for every hardworking taxpayer in this country. The spending addiction that so many of our representatives suffer from is a problem that only a strong leader can fix. I am the solution to this problem because I am not going to Washington to make friends, but to do a job. That job is to ensure that our elected officials no longer take advantage of taxpayers to make themselves look better.”
Kelly concluded, “Since wasteful spending is a bipartisan issue, it will take a bipartisan solution. I am urging every candidate in the race for this seat – both Democrat and Republican – to sign the Earmark Reform Pledge so that the hardworking men and women of this District know they will have a Congressman looking out for their interests, not the special interests.”
