Corzine Ad Watch: "89 Million"Another Day - Another Corzine TV Spot Filled With Inaccuracies
Corzine Ad Watch: "89 Million"
Corzine Claim #1: Doug Forrester's attack ads are "misleading."
FACT: The New York Times Article Cited Here Said "Some Votes Were On Procedural Measures, And Others Were Actually Votes For Democratic-Sponsored Tax Cuts That Were More Modest Than The Republican Ones."
But, Corzine Himself Admits That Procedural Measures Count. His Claims To Cut Taxes Is Loaded With Procedural Measures - Even Worse, Corzine Counted "Sense Of The Senate" Votes Which Are Non-Binding And Do Nothing To Create Law.
Also We Fundamentally Disagree With Corzine - Supporting Measures Which Were Used To Fight Tax Cuts On The Senate Floor Count As Votes Supporting Higher Taxes.
Corzine Claim #2: "[Doug Forrester's attack ads are] an exaggeration."
FACT: The Bergen Record article referred to here stated:
"A Fair Analysis Of Corzine's Record Would Lead You To The Conclusion That If He Becomes Governor, He Will Be Comfortable Raising Taxes Because He Did It Before."
The Article Also Stated That The Record Shows Corzine Voted To Support Higher Government Spending And Voted To Delay Tax Cuts Or Raise Taxes To Pay For Them.
Corzine Claim #3: "Jon Corzine has voted to lower taxes for the middleclass."
Corzine's Claims Of Tax Cuts Really Detail:
27 Votes To Bait And Switch Tax Cuts Trading One Tax Cut For Another.
13 Votes Actually For Higher Taxes.
3 Votes For Non-Binding “Sense Of The Senate Votes That Does Not Make Law.
3 Votes With Strings And Red Tape, Making Them Less Effective And Harder To Use
5 Votes That Are Flip Flops From Previous Votes.
7 Votes For Bills Which Passed With Overwhelming Senate Support.
1 Vote Making It Easier To Filibuster Tax Cuts.
Corzine Claim #4: "Doug Forrester has gotten rich off the taxpayers."
Forrester's Company Wins Contracts By Providing The Best Possible Value For Municipalities Who Want To Provide For Their Hard Working Employees Important Prescription Drug Benefits.
BeneCard Wins Those Contracts Because They Save Municipalities Money.
Corzine Claim #5: "Forrester got eighty-nine million dollars in no bid insider deals in just the last year alone. All paid for by the taxpayers."
BeneCard's Contracts Were Awarded Only After A Competitive Screening Process In Which They Were Evaluated Each Year By Private-Sector Consultants Hired By The Local Governments. Those Government's Also Retain The Right To Opt Out Of A BeneCard Plan If They Do Not Get The Best Price.
